What are good networking activities for a corporate event?

The ones that give strangers a job to do together. Speed Networking rotates tables of 6 to 8 on a designed matrix so people meet across roles and departments. City SmartHunt® and Amazing Chase SmartHunt® send teams of 8 to 10 through a city or venue with iPad missions that need every member. Build-a-Guitar®, Build-a-Band® and Bridge to the Future put a new team of 10 under a 2 to 2.5 hour deadline, and Best Corporate Feud keeps a whole room involved as a game show. The conversation happens because the task requires it.

These formats suit conference openers, association meetings, post-merger integrations and any event where two groups need to become one. Speed Networking is designed for both internal team building and multi-company events, and every program on this page runs for groups of 30 to 1,000+ with professional facilitators.

Our City SmartHunt was a very organized event! It was fun, engaging, and informative and we had a ball! Our entire group thought the activities were excellent and our lead facilitator Indy was awesome! Next time, we want you to deliver one of your one of your Culinary team-building programs.

They loved it! I received many positive emails following the Amazing Chase SmartHunt event. The most fun was making our way through the city shooting photos and videos. At the after slideshow, I have never seen so many people glued to a TV wanting to see everyone else’s photos!

Frequently asked questions

How do you make sure people actually mix?

Speed Networking includes a rotational matrix designed and set up for your group, so tables of 6 to 8 are reshuffled each round and people meet across roles and departments. Virtual Speed Networking includes structured breakout rotations and team reshuffling. On SmartHunts and build programs the mixing comes from how teams are formed before the event, so departments, offices or companies can be split deliberately.

How long does a networking program take?

Speed Networking runs 1 to 2 hours. Best Corporate Feud and Bears and Blankets run 1 to 1.5 hours. Corporate Survivor, Bike Build Donation® and Chocolate Architect run 1.5 to 2 hours. City SmartHunt®, Amazing Chase SmartHunt®, Build-a-Guitar®, Build-a-Band® and Bridge to the Future run 2 to 2.5 hours. Competition to Collaboration® is the longest at 2.5 to 3 hours.

How large can a networking event be?

Every program on this page runs for groups of 30 to 1,000+, including Speed Networking, both SmartHunts, the build programs and the game show. Across the full catalog Best Corporate Events delivers programs for groups from 30 to 6,000+. Teams inside the event stay small: 6 to 8 in Speed Networking, 8 to 10 on a SmartHunt and 10 on the build programs.

Can a networking program run virtually?

Yes. Virtual Speed Networking runs 1 to 1.5 hours on your video conferencing platform of choice with a professional host and tech facilitator, icebreaker games, customizable discussion topics or mini-challenges, structured breakout rotations in teams of 4 to 6, and a wrap-up with shoutouts. See the full list of virtual programs for distributed groups.

Is there a networking program for a conference opener?

Speed Networking fits a 1 to 2 hour slot for 30 to 1,000+ people, indoors or outdoors, with low physicality and 25 sq. ft. per person, so it works in a general session room. Best Corporate Feud runs 1 to 1.5 hours with a host, projection and a lockout system, and audience response technology keeps groups of 100+ involved throughout.

What space and equipment do networking programs need?

Speed Networking, Build-a-Guitar®, Build-a-Band®, Bike Build Donation® and Best Corporate Feud need about 25 sq. ft. per person; Bridge to the Future needs 40 and Corporate Survivor 50. SmartHunts run anywhere, indoors or out, and the finale needs a screen and audio. Most programs ask for a sound system or microphone for groups of 50+, and Best Corporate Feud needs a projector and screen.

What is included in a networking program?

Every program comes with a professional lead facilitator and event staff, program design, production coordination and all activity materials. SmartHunts include iPads with mobile connectivity. Build-a-Guitar® and Build-a-Band® include the instruments, amplifiers and accessories plus coordination with the receiving organization. Bike Build Donation® includes new bicycles, helmets and locks. Programs are delivered nationwide with no added travel costs in the continental U.S.

Can a networking program be tailored to a merger or an association meeting?

Yes. Virtual Speed Networking offers customizable discussion topics or mini-challenges. In Bridge to the Future each team's section of the bridge represents your organization's future mission and goals. Speed Networking is designed for both internal team building and multi-company events, which suits association and chapter meetings. Competition to Collaboration® is built around two sub-teams sharing best practices, a fit for groups that have just been combined.

Do any networking programs give back to the community?

Yes. Build-a-Guitar® and Build-a-Band® build instruments that are donated to youth music programs. Bike Build Donation® assembles new bicycles with helmets and locks for donation. Bears and Blankets builds comfort items for children in distress through partner charities. All four run for groups of 30 to 1,000+ and carry Relationship Building & Networking in their Goals & Outcomes.
