What team building activities work at a conference?

Ones that respect the agenda. Jeoparody Live! and Trivia Blast Live! were built as conference openers: one host, one screen, the whole room, 1 to 1.5 hours. Best Corporate Feud and A Minute 2 Win It! fill an evening. For an afternoon block, a build program (Build-a-Guitar, Bridge to the Future, 2 to 2.5 hours) or a charity assembly (Bike Build Donation, STEM Backpacks for Kids, 1.5 to 2 hours) gives the room something to finish together. City SmartHunt takes attendees out into the host city and back.

Every program runs for 30 to 1,000+ people, and the production (host, facilitators, game technology, scoring, materials) arrives with the team. The venue provides the room, a screen or projector and a sound system; Build-a-Guitar and Bike Build Donation also use tablets or personal devices with Wi-Fi, and the SmartHunts bring their own iPads.

Jeoparody Live!

By agenda slot

Opening session
Jeoparody Live! and Trivia Blast Live! run 1 to 1.5 hours with the whole room playing at once. Speed Networking runs 1 to 2 hours in rotating conversations across roles and departments.
Afternoon block
Build-a-Guitar and Bridge to the Future: 2 to 2.5 hours. Bike Build Donation and STEM Backpacks for Kids: 1.5 to 2 hours.
Evening event
Best Corporate Feud (1 to 1.5 hours), A Minute 2 Win It! (1.5 to 2 hours) and Food Truck Face-Off (2 to 2.5 hours): hosted, competitive, scored.
Off-site
City SmartHunt sends iPad-equipped teams through the host city for 2 to 2.5 hours. Amazing Chase SmartHunt runs the same length indoors or out, with missions, puzzles and photo and video challenges.

Sales kickoffs

Best Corporate Feud runs on survey questions written for corporate groups, so the game fits a room that has just sat through the year's plan. Competition to Collaboration opens with two sub-teams competing on separate challenges, then a twist makes the case for sharing best practices, a message a sales kickoff can use.

What clients say

We enjoyed the whole thing very much! Our facilitator was early, energetic the whole time, funny, engaging, and everyone loved him. He probably deserves a raise.

We have done game shows at all of our sales meetings in the past, but your Best Corporate Feud program using keypads that involved everyone at the event with the game show ending was the most innovative and inclusive game show we have ever done.

I have never seen my group so energetic. We have done many different team building activities in the past but “Light Speed” was by far the best. After the program, I heard many folks stating “I’m exhausted from laughing so hard!” and “We had so much fun”! I would recommend Light Speed to any group who is looking for energy level 10!

Thank you so very much for yesterday’s Bike Build Donation event. We had such a great time together… your lead facilitator was the best ever! One of our colleagues who joined us wants to have the same event at his U.K. facility. It has been a pleasure working with everyone at Best Corporate Events to make this wonderful event happen! We look forward to having another event sometime next year.

I wanted to take a second and say thank you for the great job you guys did at the Bike Build on Tuesday. The group had an amazing time and the added bonus of having the kids there to receive them was truly special. Thank you so much for time, effort and leadership. I look forward to working with you again.

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic, energetic, and perfect facilitation of our Bike Build with iPads. The employees of SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management wanted to do a community service event and this was perfect. We had great reviews and the team loved it. I look forward to working with you again.

I just wanted to send out a HUGE thank you for a wonderful event last week. The response from the team has been fantastic! I think we will most likely do another event like this for them next year. After experiencing the group, if you can let me know what you think would be good options for them I would appreciate it. I am sure it will be hard to beat the bike build. Thanks again for everything. Our hopes are to pitch your services to many more of our clients.

We felt so privileged and honored to take part in your new Bike Build program. We couldn’t stop talking about the integration of the iPads – they were a great added value! I also loved that I just booked the program and your team handled the rest. Your facilitator was a great leader- funny, personable and very excited which got everyone super motivated. My team said they would never forget it!

Frequently asked questions

What is the shortest conference team building activity?

A hosted game show. Jeoparody Live! and Trivia Blast Live! run 1 to 1.5 hours and are built as openers or energizers: one host, one screen, and the whole room playing from the first question. Best Corporate Feud runs the same length and fits an evening slot.

What does the conference venue need to provide?

The room, a screen or projector, and a sound system with a microphone for the host (required for groups of 50 or more on most programs). The facilitators bring the host, game technology, scoring, props and materials. Build-a-Guitar and Bike Build Donation also use tablets or personal devices with Wi-Fi; the SmartHunts bring iPads.

Can a program handle 1,000 attendees?

Yes. Every program on this page runs for 30 to 1,000+ people. Trivia Blast Live! includes a mobile response system so every participant answers, and Best Corporate Feud adds audience response technology for groups of 100 or more, so a large room stays in play rather than watching a few contestants.

Do you travel to the conference city?

Yes. Programs are delivered nationwide with no added travel costs in the continental U.S., so a conference in Atlanta, Las Vegas or Orlando carries no travel surcharge. Professional facilitators run every program on site, and the company has done so since 2010.

How much space does a conference program need?

The game shows, Speed Networking, Build-a-Guitar, Bike Build Donation, STEM Backpacks for Kids and Food Truck Face-Off need about 25 sq. ft. per person, which a general session room or ballroom usually covers. Bridge to the Future needs 40 sq. ft. per person and Competition to Collaboration 30. City SmartHunt and Amazing Chase SmartHunt run anywhere.

Which conference programs can run outdoors?

Trivia Blast Live!, Speed Networking, A Minute 2 Win It!, Bridge to the Future, Bike Build Donation, STEM Backpacks for Kids, Competition to Collaboration and both SmartHunts run indoors or outdoors. Jeoparody Live!, Best Corporate Feud, Build-a-Guitar and Food Truck Face-Off are indoor programs, so plan them for the ballroom or an evening room.

What is included in the price?

The host or lead facilitator, event staff, program design, production coordination and all game or activity materials. The charity builds include the bikes, helmets and locks, guitar kits with amplifiers and tuners, or backpacks and STEM supplies, plus donation coordination. For Food Truck Face-Off, the venue supplies ingredients at the client's cost.

How big are the teams?

Jeoparody Live! plays in teams of 4 to 6, Trivia Blast Live! and Best Corporate Feud in teams of 6 to 10, and A Minute 2 Win It! and Speed Networking in teams of 6 to 8. The build and charity programs use teams of 10, and both SmartHunts use teams of 8 to 10.

Is there a virtual option for remote attendees?

The programs on this page are in-person formats built for a general session room, a ballroom or the host city. For attendees who join the conference remotely, or for a follow-up event after everyone flies home, see the virtual team building programs.
