STEM Backpacks for Kids is a heart-warming, charitable, team-building program devoted to promoting and emphasizing the importance of education in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The program begins with a fun, high-energy icebreaker that will have your group laughing, celebrating, bonding, and readying themselves for the fun and rewarding experience ahead.
Teams will then engage in our new Brainstorm game and/or Minute 2 Win it activities to earn visits to the STEM store to find items for inclusion in the student backpacks. Our new, browser-based activity, Brainstorm, incorporates fun photo and video challenges, trivia, and puzzles, providing full-group engagement by having all participants play on their personal devices with no download needed.
The purpose of the STEM Backpacks for Kids donation is to give children, ages 5 to 10 years old, items that will spark their curiosity for learning and experimentation while gaining an understanding of the importance of STEM to their future success. In recent years, it has become popular to include Arts in the line-up resulting in the new acronym STE(A)M for this group of subjects.
Agencies across the country were consulted to identify the best items to include in STE(A)M backpacks. Examples: Science Magnet Kit, Markers, Rubber Bands, Magnifying Glass, Rubik Cube, Craft Sticks, Electronics Discovery Kit, Compass, Protractor, Calculator, Tape Measure, Notebooks, Folders, Pens, Pencils, Highlighters, Erasers, Scissors, Crayons, Pencil Sharpener, Glue Sticks, Ruler, STEM Starters for Kids Activity Book.
Our historically popular iPad activities are still available upon request.
Our STEM Backpacks for Kids program was very organized by your lead facilitator who kept everything moving along at a good pace The opening icebreaker was really fun and the iPad questions were challenging. Building structures with the MakeDo kits and working on the electronics projects took a lot of teamwork! I think our employees really enjoyed the activities and the charitable aspect of this event with the assembling and donation of the STEM backpacks.
