Why Tysons works for a corporate event

How it works with us here

Tysons is Northern Virginia's biggest office district, where many towers carry McLean addresses, and its hotels host the meetings of the banks, consultancies and defense firms around them. Most events we run here happen in a hotel ballroom beside a Silver Line station, in a company's own building, or on a bigger stage at Capital One Hall. Our crew hauls in every bike box, buzzer and iPad, and your people are back at their desks by late afternoon.

More about corporate events in Tysons Corner, VA

Bike builds, from the Ritz-Carlton to the office

Bike Build Donation® comes up more than anything else in Tysons. Consulting and technology teams have built bikes at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner and the Tysons Corner Marriott, whose bikes went to the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, and a financial services company has made it a habit on its own campus. A build like this wraps up in under two hours.

Game shows on a big stage

Capital One Hall, the performing arts center that opened in Tysons in 2021, has a main theater of about 1,600 seats, and a financial services company brought its group there for Best Corporate Feud. The same show has run in the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center, and a technology company played it at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. On a corporate campus, Trivia Blast Live! has run for a large group with a host, answer pads and a live leaderboard.

SmartHunts between the towers

An aerospace company started an Amazing Chase SmartHunt® at the Tysons Corner Marriott, and a financial services team ran one from its own offices. Road Blocks and Detours send teams between plazas with puzzles to solve on our iPads. Tysons was built for cars, so we plan routes on its newer sidewalks and plazas and keep teams off the busiest crossings.

Giving back

An aerospace firm built rolling walkers at Convene on Tysons Boulevard with Build-A-Rollator and donated them through the American Legion. A consulting firm packed STEM Backpacks for Kids at the Archer Hotel Tysons, and Minute 2 Win It! for Charity has turned tabletop games into care packages for a local charity.

Outdoors at Wolf Trap

Wolf Trap, the national park for the performing arts, is a few minutes west in Vienna. A real estate company held Team Olympics on its grounds in October, and the park has hosted an Amazing Chase SmartHunt® as well. Wolf Trap's open lawns give a large group room to spread out between stations.

Tysons and the rest of the region

From Tysons, downtown Washington is half an hour in on the Silver Line and Arlington sits on the way. Our District facilitators cover all of it, which helps the many Tysons firms that also keep a downtown office.

Planning guide

Space for a Tysons program

Tysons has everything from a boardroom to a 1,600-seat theater. Match your room to these per-person figures from the program specs.

Floor area per person

Measured another way

Amazing Chase SmartHunt®

Wolf Trap is a national park, so an outdoor program on its grounds follows the park's own rules for group use. We sort out the arrangements with you ahead of time.

A worked example

120 people at 25 sq ft each

Each square is one person’s 25 sq ft.

A game show works on a stage too, with teams in the seats and the host up front.

Planning guide

Tysons weather through the year

Tysons sits high for the region, but the weather is Washington's: steamy summers and short, raw winters.

  • Outdoors

    April and May

    • Dogwoods out and the lawns firm: the spring window for Wolf Trap or a hunt between towers.
  • Either way

    June to August

    • Humid. Programs inside a hotel or office are the safer plan after late morning.
  • Outdoors

    September and October

    • Warm, then crisp. October is the month groups have chosen for Wolf Trap.
  • Indoors

    November to March

Dates to plan around

Wolf Trap summer season
Late spring to September. Concerts at the Filene Center fill the park on show nights.
Holiday shopping
Late November through December. Traffic and parking around Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria get heavy, especially on weekends.

Weekday afternoons are the easiest time to move a group around Tysons in December.

Corporate events and team building in Tysons Corner, VA: questions we get

Do you cover McLean as well as Tysons?

Yes. Many Tysons hotels and offices have McLean addresses, including The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner and the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, and we treat them as one area. We also come to offices in Vienna and Falls Church nearby.

Which Tysons venues have you worked in?

The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner, the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, the Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center, the Tysons Corner Marriott, the Archer Hotel Tysons and Capital One Hall, plus Wolf Trap in Vienna for outdoor programs. We also run programs in company buildings across Tysons.

Which programs are Tysons favorites?

Bike Build Donation® first, and after it Best Corporate Feud, the Amazing Chase SmartHunt®, Minute 2 Win It! for Charity, Trivia Blast Live!, STEM Backpacks for Kids, Team Olympics and Build-A-Rollator.

Where do the donations go?

Bikes from Tysons builds have gone to the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, and rolling walkers through the American Legion. We can also send the donation to an organization your company already supports in Fairfax County or the District.

Can you run a program for a very large group?

Yes. Best Corporate Feud has run at Capital One Hall, and Trivia Blast Live! has run for a large group on a company campus. Program specs go up to 1,000+, with a crowd split into many teams answering at the same moment.

Do we call a different office for downtown Washington?

No. A single planner handles Tysons and the District. Firms here often pair an in-house program at the Tysons office with a client event in the city, and we schedule both together.

Which season is best for Wolf Trap or an outdoor hunt?

Spring and the early fall. October has worked well for groups at Wolf Trap. Midsummer afternoons are sticky, so we schedule outdoor pieces for the morning, and winter programs run in a ballroom.

How soon do Tysons venues book up?

Capital One Hall and Wolf Trap need the most notice, roughly ten weeks. Hotel ballrooms want about two months, and a build in your own tower can be arranged in a month if security clears our team in time.

Also serving teams across Metro Washington

One team covers the whole metro. An activity in Tysons Corner, VA is the same activity, run by the same facilitators, as in any of these cities.
