Why Coral Gables works for a corporate event

How it works with us here

Coral Gables is the planned Mediterranean Revival city George Merrick laid out in the 1920s, and its historic hotels and clubhouse are where most of our events here take place. Consulting firms, life sciences companies and the regional offices around Ponce de Leon Boulevard book us for a program inside a meeting they are already holding at The Biltmore or on Miracle Mile. We bring the facilitators and every kit, and the donations from a charitable build stay in Miami-Dade.

More about corporate events in Coral Gables, FL

A century at The Biltmore

The Biltmore Hotel Miami Coral Gables opened on January 15, 1926, and turns 100 this year. It is a National Historic Landmark with more than 75,000 square feet of function space across the hotel and the Conference Center of the Americas beside it, and it is where we have worked most in the city. Consulting firms have booked Go-Kart Competition and the Mini-Golf Build and Food Donation here, in which teams of ten build golf holes out of canned food that then goes to a food bank.

Active programs in the dry months

December to April is the time for a program with room to move. A meetings company ran Team Olympics at The Biltmore in April, the last dry month before the rains, with teams of twelve to fifteen competing for 1.5 to 2 hours, and Fiesta Fun!, a salsa, guacamole and margarita contest, has closed a consulting firm's afternoon.

Miracle Mile and Alhambra Plaza

Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables sits on Miracle Mile, with an 8,932-square-foot ballroom and a marble Rotunda, and a retail company used it for Food Truck Face-Off. On Alhambra Plaza, the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables is where our facilitators have run a protocol training activity for a pharmaceutical team as well as a Bike Build Donation® for a small biotech group.

George Merrick's clubhouse

The Coral Gables Golf & Country Club, built in 1922, was the city's first public building and reopened after its centennial restoration. Its chandeliered ballroom has held two of our largest Coral Gables events: a Build-a-Guitar® whose electric guitars went to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, and a Go-Kart Competition that ended with an oversized check for a local charity.

Giving back in Miami-Dade

Latino Leadership, Inc. has received the bikes and the bears from Coral Gables events: a consulting firm's Bike Build Donation® at La Jolla Ballroom on Alcazar Avenue, and Bears and Blankets for a nonprofit at The Biltmore. A manufacturer also booked Build-A-Rollator at The Biltmore, with the finished rollators given to people with limited mobility.

Part of South Florida

Coral Gables is part of our South Florida coverage, with Miami as its hub. The same team runs events in Doral by the airport, downtown Miami and Miami Beach, so a company meeting in the Gables can add a program anywhere else in the county.

Planning guide

Space for a Coral Gables program

Coral Gables events mostly run in historic ballrooms, which vary a lot in shape. The square footage per person shows which programs a room can take.

A program in one of the city's parks needs a special event permit from the Coral Gables Community Recreation Department. Hotel and club programs need no permit, and we work with each venue's event team.

A worked example

Each square is one person’s 35 sq ft.

Older ballrooms often have columns or an uneven shape. Send the floor plan and we will lay out the teams around it.

Planning guide

Coral Gables weather through the year

The tree canopy along the Gables streets helps, but the pattern is Miami's: a dry winter and a long, wet summer.

  • Outdoors

    January to April

    • Average highs from about 76 to 84 and the least rain of the year. The months for Team Olympics on hotel grounds or a hunt along Miracle Mile.
  • Either way

    May and June

    • Highs from about 87 to 89. The rainy season starts in mid-May, and June averages about 10 inches, so an outdoor start should come with a ballroom on hold.
  • Indoors

    July to September

    • Highs of 89 to 91 and storms most afternoons. Plan a ballroom program such as a bike or guitar build.
  • Either way

    October to December

    • Highs ease from about 86 to 78 as the rain stops after mid-October, and December brings holiday team building to the hotel ballrooms.

Dates to plan around

Carnaval on the Mile
Late February or March. A street festival that fills Miracle Mile.
Gables Gallery Night
First Friday of each month, 6 to 10 p.m.. Downtown galleries open late; the next are October 2, November 6 and December 4, 2026.
The Biltmore's centennial
2026. The hotel opened on January 15, 1926.
Junior Orange Bowl Parade
Early December. A long-running holiday parade through the city.

Rainy season runs May 15 to October 15 and hurricane season June 1 to November 30. For a hunt downtown, avoid Carnaval weekend or tell us early so we can route around it.

Corporate events and team building in Coral Gables, FL: questions we get

Have you run events at The Biltmore?

Yes, it is the venue we have used most in Coral Gables. Groups there have booked Go-Kart Competition, the Mini-Golf Build and Food Donation, Team Olympics on the grounds, Build-A-Rollator, Bike Build Donation® and game shows. The hotel's event team handles the room; we bring the program and everything it needs.

Which other Coral Gables venues have you worked in?

The Hyatt Regency Coral Gables on Alhambra Plaza, the Coral Gables Golf & Country Club, Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables on Miracle Mile and La Jolla Ballroom on Alcazar Avenue. Each has a ballroom that holds a seated build or game show, and several can set a room for a leadership session.

What do Coral Gables groups book most?

Bike Build Donation® leads, then Go-Kart Competition, the Mini-Golf Build and Food Donation, Team Olympics, Build-A-Rollator, Bears and Blankets and Build-a-Guitar®. Most run 1.5 to 2 hours; Build-a-Guitar® runs 2 to 2.5 hours. Consulting firms here have also booked Fiesta Fun! and our game shows.

Where do the donations go?

Bikes and teddy bears from Coral Gables events have gone to Latino Leadership, Inc., and electric guitars from a Build-a-Guitar® went to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. We confirm the recipient with you when you book, and we can send a build to a cause your company already supports.

Is this different from your Miami page?

Coral Gables is part of our South Florida coverage, run by the same team. This page covers The Biltmore, the Miracle Mile hotels and the Gables clubhouse; the Miami page covers downtown, Brickell and the rest of the county. A company with an office in each can plan both in one conversation.

Can we hold the program outdoors?

Yes, from December to April, when average highs run from the mid-70s to the mid-80s and rain is light. A program on hotel grounds is arranged with the venue; a city park needs a permit from the Community Recreation Department, which we help you request.

Can our team get there without driving?

Yes. Metrorail stops at Douglas Road and University stations, and the free Coral Gables Trolley runs from Douglas Road along Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Monday to Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The city also offers free Freebee rides, and municipal garages sit around downtown.

How far ahead should we book?

About eight weeks for The Biltmore or a Miracle Mile ballroom from January through April, when meeting season is busiest, and for any outdoor date. A smaller program in a hotel meeting room is often fine at four weeks. Call about a closer date; it may still work.

Also serving teams across South Florida
