The Greatest Showdown is a fast-paced team building competition for offsites, conferences and large company gatherings. It runs in two parts that repeat all session long. First, everyone answers a fun question on their phone, like “Would you rather win an Olympic gold or an Oscar?” Then the answers decide the sides, and those sides face off in a short tabletop challenge.

Because every new question reshuffles who is on your side, people keep teaming up with colleagues they rarely work with. Quiet players get pulled into the action, the scoreboard keeps moving, and the energy stays high from the first round to the final standings.

Program Agenda

Your host opens with a quick kickoff and gets everyone connected on their phones. Teams of 6 to 8 sit at their own table with a game box, and each round follows the same simple rhythm:

  • A poll question appears on the big screen and everyone votes on their phone
  • The answers split each table into two sides for that round
  • The two sides play a quick head-to-head challenge from the game box
  • Winners earn points on the live leaderboard

Sample challenges from the game box include:

  • Dice Battle: race to add up four dice and shout the total first
  • Pancake Flip: flip a target off a track and catch it again, with one more flip each round
  • The Tallest Tower: take turns adding cubes and hope you are not the one who topples it
  • Bounce Off: bounce a ball twice on the table before it rolls off the edge
  • Wise Words: be the first side to shout a word with the right first letter and length

The box holds about 20 different mini games, so no two rounds feel the same. When the final scores are in, one participant is crowned the Ultimate Champion.

Program Outcomes & Takeaways

To ensure a great experience, aspects of this program may be modified for your group size, group makeup, time available, and other variables.

FAQs about The Greatest Showdown

How does The Greatest Showdown work?

Each round starts with a fun poll question on the big screen. Everyone votes on their phone, and the answers split each table into two sides. The sides then play a quick tabletop mini game from their game box, and the winners earn points on the live leaderboard. A new question starts the next round with new sides.

How many people can take part?

The Greatest Showdown works for groups of 30 to more than 1,000 people. Participants sit at tables in teams of 6 to 8, and every table plays at the same time.

How long does it take?

We recommend about 1.5 hours. The format can run anywhere from one to three hours, so it can fit a short conference energizer or a longer offsite session.

What do we need to provide?

Plan on about 25 square feet per person, a riser or stage for the host, two supply tables for our staff and one table per team, with or without chairs. For tech, you will need a microphone and sound system that can play music, a screen and projector with an HDMI input, and WiFi. Each participant plays on their own phone, so ask everyone to arrive with it charged.

Can it run outdoors?

Yes. The program runs in person, indoors or outdoors. Outdoor events need an inclement weather plan, such as a covered space nearby.

How physical is it?

Low to moderate. The challenges are tabletop games like stacking cubes, flipping a disc and rolling dice, so anyone can play. Most players stand around their table during the rounds.
