Momentum is an inventive team building event where each sub-team will be tasked with designing and building a Rube Goldberg-style chain reaction machine to accomplish a simple task, like popping a balloon. Team members must collaborate and strategize together to not only create a successful contraption but also to out-design other teams and ultimately be declared the Momentum champions!

The program begins with a fun and challenging kickoff activity, which will energize and inspire teams for the latter stages of this competitive event.

Teams will then be provided with a standard set of supplies to start their machine build which may include board game pieces, plastic piping, toy car tracks, dominoes, marbles, and more. Some members of each team take on the role of machine design and must be sure to include the correct amount of reactions throughout their machine as well as find creative ways to accomplish simple transitions to receive the most innovation points possible. Other teammates will be tasked with completing mini-challenges to support the designers’ creativity by earning points for use at the supply store where they can acquire a variety of additional materials and unique items to enhance the build.

The tension builds as teams begin to assemble their designs and test the various reactions to see if they work as imagined. As the building stage comes to a close, the official testing phase will begin where teams are each given the opportunity to trial run their entire chain reaction machine in front of the group. Teams with a successful test run may choose to be scored based on this first attempt, or use a brief revision period to add complexity or creativity to their design. Teams whose machines don’t perform as expected during the trial phase will get a chance to make adjustments before the final round of judging.

To ensure a great experience, aspects of these activities may be modified for your group size, group makeup, time available, and other variables.

Since you like this program, you may also consider Virtual Competition to Collaboration as a remote option!

Clients Talk About this Program

I hope you had a nice weekend. I connected with Adam and Justin who both said their two teambuilding events; Momentum and A Minute 2 Win It! were outstanding. My group had a great time and enjoyed their Competition to Collaboration event, as well as the wrap-up discussion at the end. We’re glad we chose to work with you and your company, and hopefully, we can partner again in the future.

Everyone from J.P. Morgan Chase who attended the event at the Citadel Center in Chicago LOVED your Momentum program. They all had a very fun and amazing time! We are so glad your company was able to put this team-building program together on such short notice. We’ll be in touch again now that we are back to in-person events.

      What is a Keynote Speaker?

Keynote Speaker is an often-misunderstood term associated with simply a motivational speaker, breakout speaker, industry expert, etc. Most professional speakers are not actual trained Keynote Speakers, who are specialists, therefore in much lower supply, and in higher demand.

Keynote Speakers are experienced, professional communicators who engage an audience, capturing the essence of a client’s meeting. They are able to highlight it to their audience while simultaneously delivering their own key concepts and proprietary content in an entertaining and impactful way. Most companies understand that this specialization is very much worth the time (around an hour) and the investment.

In order to capture the perfect essence, a Keynote Speaker spends the necessary time researching a client’s industry, their issues, and their audience to craft a customized presentation into a unique and distinctive moment specifically for the client’s event.

As a top Keynote Speaker, Tom Leu strategically uses compelling storytelling, humor, powerful visuals, audio and video clips, and audience participation elements to weave an impactful message into your event in a fun and memorable way. Tom can also pair his Keynote with Best Corporate Events programming, laying a foundation and setting a tone that best prepares participants for maximum engagement in the forthcoming team events that day.
