Whether your team loves the ’70s, ’90s, or today’s top hits, Virtual Name That Tune is a fast-paced, fully interactive game show designed to bring out everyone’s competitive and musical spirit. Hosted live by an engaging professional emcee, this high-energy program gets participants tapping into their music knowledge—and their reflexes—as they race to identify songs, artists, lyrics, and more.

Participants join using their Apple or Android devices and respond to a variety of timed trivia formats, including multiple choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank. The quicker the response, the higher the score. A live host kicks things off, introduces the categories and scoring, and guides the group through the experience. Each player chooses a name to appear on the scoreboard—and as the game begins, the competition heats up!

Program Agenda

Our interactive host will welcome the group, and introduce the game, categories, and scoring. Players will choose a name that will appear on the scoreboard and the main screen when they are the fastest to answer. Then the group competes in rounds of music-related categories to earn as many points as possible.

Designed around the classic “Name that Tune”, participants will watch video clips and be asked to identify the song, the band, or artist, or perhaps to answer a trivia question or two based on the lyrics, the band, or the video itself. Clips ranging from ten to thirty seconds will give participants enough time to sing along to new tracks as well as old favorites.

Program Outcomes & Takeaways

By the end of the game, your team will have laughed (maybe sung), bonded, and walked away with a memorable shared experience. This program also:

  • Builds camaraderie and team spirit through shared laughter and nostalgia
  • Encourages quick thinking, collaboration, and a healthy dose of friendly banter
  • Sparks joy and energy with a playlist that gets participants smiling—and maybe even singing
  • Provides a fresh, creative alternative to typical virtual meetings or events

Program Customizations

We can tailor the program to fit the unique interests and goals of your team, including:

  • Selecting a preferred music genre from Rock (new and classic), Pop, Rap, Soul, Country, Blues, and even a little Broadway
  • Customize to your group’s favorite musical decade from the ’70s to now
  • Include shout-outs for specific departments or team milestones
  • Adjust trivia difficulty or pacing to your group’s needs

In this fun and energetic battle, participants’ knowledge of their favorite tunes and musicians will be tested. As participants attempt to be the quickest, we encourage the “excuse exchanges” that are inevitable. This banter between participants builds upon the game show feel and adds to the team camaraderie. Your group will laugh – and maybe even sing – their way through this high-energy event! Ready to test your team’s music IQ? Book your Virtual Name That Tune experience today!

The most fun was meeting everyone in an informal setting. Healthy competition. Small talk/chats in between the questions. Getting to know team members’ real personalities and seeing their families in some instances. The group as a whole enjoyed the event and our host Paul was excellent.

We enjoyed the event very much! We have not had so much fun as a group in a while. The most fun was the interaction – going into the breakout rooms to discuss answers and convening back. It helped us bond because it gave us a chance to work in cross-functional teams and quick decision-making. The feedback was positive and appreciative, and your facilitator Paul was amazing! It felt like he was one of us! He did an amazing job having small windows of chatting on random topics but always brought the team back to focus on the game.

The feedback for our Virtual Charitable Name that Tune program was phenomenal. We really loved the game – some of us more than others (I won!). And Russ was fantastic as a host. Very personable and really amazing in his music knowledge. The charity blew people away – the fact that we were able to donate to such an amazing cause really touched people in our group. I loved that you were able to have someone from Music & Memory on AND the receiving home. It really made an impact. In my opinion, truly a great event and I look forward to working with you in the future!

FAQs about Virtual Music Team Building Games

How does Virtual Name That Tune work as a team building game show?

Virtual Name That Tune is a fast-paced, fully interactive game show hosted live by a professional emcee. Participants join using their Apple or Android devices and compete in real time across a series of music-related categories. Here's how the experience unfolds:
  1. The live host welcomes the group, introduces the categories and scoring, and guides everyone through the game
  2. Each participant chooses a display name that appears on the scoreboard — and on the main screen when they're the fastest to answer correctly
  3. Participants watch video clips of 10–30 seconds and are challenged to identify the song, the band or artist, or answer trivia questions based on the lyrics or the video itself
Question formats include multiple choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank. Speed matters — the quicker the correct response, the higher the score. Clips are long enough that participants can sing along to both new tracks and old favorites, which adds to the energy and fun of the experience.

What makes Virtual Name That Tune engaging for the whole group, not just music experts?

One of the reasons Virtual Name That Tune works so well for corporate groups is that it doesn't reward just one type of knowledge or personality. Several elements of the format keep the whole group genuinely engaged:
  • Music spans generations and tastes — the program covers decades of music, from the '70s and '90s to today's top hits, so there's something familiar for everyone
  • Reflexes matter as much as knowledge — speed affects scoring, so someone who recognizes a song immediately has an advantage, even if they couldn't name every artist in a trivia quiz
  • The "excuse exchanges" are part of the fun — the program actively encourages the banter that happens when participants react to results, miss an answer, or discover a colleague's surprising music knowledge. This back-and-forth builds camaraderie and adds to the game show atmosphere
  • The host drives the energy — the experienced emcee is a key part of what makes the event work
By the end, your group will have laughed, bonded, and walked away with a memorable shared experience.

What occasions is Virtual Name That Tune especially well-suited for?

Virtual Name That Tune is a flexible format that has been used successfully across a wide range of corporate occasions. Based on client experiences, it tends to work particularly well in these contexts:
  • Virtual holiday parties
  • Virtual conferences
  • Cross-functional team events
