With Literacy for Little Ones, your team will assist in gifting the love of literacy to young readers! This wonderful charitable program brings your group together to assemble donation packages of books and supporting materials to help build the foundation of lifelong literacy for young children from infancy to age 5.
Early literacy plays a pivotal role in shaping a child’s future academic success and lifelong learning by honing crucial language acquisition, phonological awareness, and comprehension skills. Encouraging access to and enthusiasm for reading from the earliest years of a child’s life is a valuable way to jumpstart their future learning and education.
The program begins with a fun, energizing icebreaker that will get your group excited for the experience ahead. Teams will then engage in a series of literacy-focused activities and challenges that will have your group tapping into their early reading memories, from elementary grammar to childhood classic books, to earn visits to the literacy store to find items for inclusion in their donation packages.
Each team will assemble a robust early literacy kit with all the materials they collect from completing their activities and challenges. Each kit will include a kid-friendly desk/storage chair perfect for reading, a variety of interactive items and toys, and, best of all, 15 amazing books geared for ages 0 – 5.
At the conclusion of the program, these early literacy kits will be donated to preschools and other non-profit agencies that focus on early literacy for toddlers and preschool-age little ones. When possible, a representative from the receiving organization will address your group, thank them for their generous donation, and share more information about their work and how your group’s donation will benefit their programs. Literacy for Little Ones is the perfect way to help little ones in your community build a lifelong foundation of literacy.
