Orientation SmartHunt®

An Orientation SmartHunt® is an excellent way for students to experience their new school in a way through shared laughter, exploration, learning, fun, and strategy building. Photo missions, video challenges, and trivia questions guide teams on an orienteering scavenger hunt around their new campus.

Our SmartHunts® App is loaded on iPads® we provide that use 4G LTE and Wi-Fi to capture photos, document videos, and conduct scoring. GPS tracking and a messaging system allow our facilitators to stay connected with teams during the hunt because our app never loses connectivity due to our unique file-submission system and cloud technology.

Designed to be fully customizable to meet your goals, this tool enhances the ability of educators, student leaders, youth workers, college orientation coordinators, and others to meet the needs of incoming students.

Orientation SmartHunt® begins with our lead facilitator explaining the event goals, rules, and strategies, followed by a demo on how to navigate the SmartHunts App. After an energizing icebreaker, teams are set loose to earn points by completing as many of the challenges as they can.

Challenges are located in areas students will need to become familiar with and incorporate information about the locations, their history, and useful facts.

While teams are out exploring, they will also be tasked with completing various hands-on Roadblock Challenges along the way with challenges like Pipeline, Stepping Stones, Giant Hamster Wheel, LaunchPad, and Kaizen.

The SmartHunts® app-based scoring system provides an opportunity for friendly competition, which naturally motivates participants to maximize their experience.

During the Wrap-Up, the best photos and videos captured by teams throughout the hunt are presented in a highlight slideshow on the big screen, and winning team members will receive gold medals.

The SmartHunts facilitation team also delivers a powerful debrief during the Wrap-Up, ensuring lasting memories for years to come. After the SmartHunt®, you will receive a secure link to a private web dashboard that contains a highlight video and all the photos, videos, and scores from each team.
