Celebrating #GivingTuesday 

#GivingTuesday is a new, but widely recognized charitable day celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is a global day of giving. In just a short six years it has grown in popularity as significant as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. With the help of social media and collaborating with national charitable organizations, #GivingTuesday kicks off the most charitable season of the year.

At Best Corporate Events we are proud to partner with companies to donate and help less fortunate members of the community. While some tend to focus more on giving during the holiday season, we are pleased to offer give-back charitable team building programs year round. Our CSR programs can be delivered anywhere in North America.  They feature group bonding activities designed to boost team spirit.  These uplifting events include activities, games and challenges result in the creation of items for donation.  The items are donated to local and national charities for the benefit of overseas soldiers, schools, the homeless, children, the elderly, and Alzheimer’s patients – to name a few.

Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates philanthropy.  According to, it’s easy to participate.  Just come together and find a way you or your company can give back to the community.  There are so many ways you can help others. Through the gift of your time, donations, goods or your voice.

Today we celebrate students

Students of all ages – we salute you!  Whether you are just starting out in Pre-K or you are going back to college later in life – being a student is an exciting and challenging time.  Being a student comes with so many hopes and dreams for the future.

I’m sure you’ll agree, education is one of the most critical factors in a child’s life.  Children are tomorrow’s teachers, doctors, firefighters, and more!  This is why we are proud to offer We Care for Schools team building program.  This program gives your group the opportunity to support the local school district, teachers and students by providing items that are in short supply.  Not all students have the luxury of having all the supplies they need to set them up for success.

We Care for Schools is the perfect way to let teachers, administrators, and children know someone cares!

It’s time for our monthly employee focus!

This week we took some time to interview one of our employees from accounting.  Sandy has been the Accounting Manager for Best Corporate Events for nearly four years!

How would you describe working at BEST?

“We have a great team, and it’s inspiring to watch our business grow. We test new programs, participate in game shows, and brainstorm ideas together at our headquarters. We’re in the team building business, so we know the importance of bonding at our own company.”

What do you find most inspiring at BEST?

“Watching our corporate headquarters evolve and develop over the last four years.”

What do you find most fulfilling at BEST?

“The comments we get from our clients and from the charities that receive the donations from our CSR programs. I like seeing the impact it has when our clients give children bicycles face to face. It’s nice to know that we make a difference in people’s lives.”

How about the perks?

“We have great benefits, and the company picks up 100% of our health insurance which is extremely generous. The owner likes rock ‘n’ roll, so I get to play rock ‘n’ roll in my office.”

What do you do for fun? 

“We are like family, and we enjoy getting together outside of the office.”

Remembering Veterans

On Veterans Day we remember those American veterans who have served our great country. Veterans Day originated in 1919 as “Armistice Day”. The first anniversary of the end of World War 1.  It became a national holiday in 1938.  The name was later changed by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1954 to Veterans Day.

Year round, Best Corporate Events offers a unique give-back team building program that supports the brave men and women proudly serving our country and the Veterans.

Our Veterans Give-Back Programs

Build-a-Wheelchair® is a corporate social responsibility program.  It was born out of a desire to help American veterans and others with various mobility challenges. In this fun and worthwhile program, groups use teamwork skills and iPads® activities to earn the materials necessary.  Teams assemble, test and decorate these new wheelchairs for donation. Once completed, artistic notes of encouragement are designed and attached.

During Operation Military Care, teams work through a series of engaging teamwork exercises, iPad® challenges, and photo & video activities to earn the points needed to acquire care package contents.  Teams also earn points by demonstrating high-performing team attributes such as clear communication, leadership, innovation and team spirit.  After all the items are acquired, teams assemble the military care packages and add personal touches in the form of letters written to the recipients that receive the boxes.

When possible, a representative from a Military Charity will be on hand to accept the generous donation on behalf of these deserving heroes.  Your team will leave the event with a deep sense of patriotic accomplishment.

  • The VA health care system had 54 hospitals in 1930, since then it has expanded to include 171 medical centers; more than 350 outpatient, community, and outreach clinics; 126 nursing home care units; and 35 live-in care facilities for injured or disabled vets.

So, it’s National Sandwich Day!

But before you run out and get your favorite compilation of ingredients in between two pieces of bread, let’s talk about five of our favorite sandwich fun facts!

1. The average American will have consumed 1,500 PB&Js by the time they graduate high school. 

You heard it here first folks! Can you imagine stacking all of those containers of peanut butter and jelly into a neat pyramid, or maybe a log cabin?

2. The world’s largest sandwich weighed 5,440 pounds.

Move over CARS, the worlds largest sandwich weighs about a thousand pounds more than you!

3. The most expensive sandwich ever sold was a grilled toast sandwich that appeared to have an image of the Virgin Mary on it. It sold for $28,000 in 2004.

I hope that sandwich can also do your taxes and pay rent for six months.

4. Americans eat more than 300 million sandwiches every day – an impressive statistic given that there are slightly just more than 300 million Americans.

If you got a penny for each sandwich someone ate, that would be 3 million dollars a day!

5. The most popular sandwich in America is the standard ham sandwich (ham, cheese, and mustard or mayonnaise), followed by the BLT.
