Creativity is the cornerstone of hard work and a critical stage of team development, but not everyone finds creativity essential in the day to day. Some find it to be trivial and would rather stick with what they know. Where we find creativity, we usually find:

  • Passion
  • Determination
  • Deep care for what’s being created

Creativity is perceiving the world in new or unique ways and desiring to bring them into real life. Not everyone is created to think the same way, or in a different way. There is always going to be someone that thinks more outside of the box than you do, but that doesn’t mean your light can’t shine. Now imagine a team of creators, everyone feeling inspired and driven to make and create their product. It is understandable that not everybody “makes” or “creates” tangible things, but the idea of being inspired and driven by what you’re doing is why creativity works and is an essential stage of team development. Here are some tips to turn that colorful light bulb of yours on!

1) Assess Yourself

What makes you, you? What do you like and love? What are your hopes and dreams? What are you good at? Any of these questions are good questions to ask yourself.  After you have a few ideas, you have to get… you guessed it… creative! Think about how the things you love and are passionate about can be employed in what you are doing.  Where there is a will there is a way!

2) Collaboration

Steve Jobs states, “Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.” In business and personal situations, working with others leads to great things! Sometimes all it takes is another person to bring out the best of us, or in this case our best ideas!

3) Perception

Yes, we all know the frustrations of someone telling you to start thinking a different way in order to change. Well, there’s a bit more to it. Understanding exactly what you’re doing and how you can leave your mark on it, is an invaluable point of view. Even if you are doing something repetitive, you can be known for always finishing on time, finishing early, helping others or sharpening your skills.

These tips are not intended to be individual pieces of advice. Self-assessment, collaboration and perspective all work in accordance with one another. It’s essential to apply them together, to reap the full benefits of creativity.  Bill Moyers states, “Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvelous.” So let’s be encouraged to be creative and leave our marks on what we do!

Self-reflection is key to self-development, but not everyone reflects on their goals and objectives every day. Instead many people wait until the end of the year or the start of the new year to focus on their resolutions.

One way to make sure that you effectively achieve your goals for 2017, is to learn how to adapt to your surroundings. Why? Because knowing how to adapt is essential for working effectively in teams, in both personal and professional capacity. This is owing to the fact that the workplace environment is constantly changing, as is the world as a global marketplace. Team-work and team building skills have become crucial for success in the corporate sector.

Research and analysis show that one of the biggest hurdles standing between us and our goals is the mistrust of our own expertise, and an inability to adapt to team culture. Listed below are a few essential qualities of team leaders and team members; these will help you to effectively adapt to your environment and improve your teamwork skills.

  • Communication is key for the success of a team.
  • When there is a lack of communication the work will inevitably fall short.
  • One of the signs of a great leader is their capability of communicating well with his team, and vice versa.

Resolving Team Conflict

  • Conflict within a team is nearly unavoidable because of the varying viewpoints, personalities, experiences, and skills of each team member.
  • When a team member is facing a difficulty they should feel confident that they can speak with their leader, who will then address the problem, and help resolve it in a professional manner.

  • Having a leader that cannot be trusted will negatively impact the team as a whole.
  • Team members will take it upon themselves to resolve issues which can possibly make matters worse.
  • If there is trust within the team, productivity will increase and there will also be a boost in the team’s confidence.

A Healthy Environment

  • To have a healthy work environment is to have both team leaders and team members be able to trust and respect each other.
  • This is vital for a company to continue to grow and improve.

  • Accepting responsibility for your actions when things go wrong is important.
  • Placing the blame on someone else is highly unprofessional, and will not help the company to succeed.

The above list is not just the qualities and skills that can help an individual succeed in a professional environment. Being responsible, an effective communicator, a trustworthy listener and being willing to understand different ideas and perspectives, are all qualities that will help you adapt to many different environments. In order to succeed in a contemporary business environment the ability to adapt and to work in the team are the two most essential qualities.

      What is a Keynote Speaker?

Keynote Speaker is an often-misunderstood term associated with simply a motivational speaker, breakout speaker, industry expert, etc. Most professional speakers are not actual trained Keynote Speakers, who are specialists, therefore in much lower supply, and in higher demand.

Keynote Speakers are experienced, professional communicators who engage an audience, capturing the essence of a client’s meeting. They are able to highlight it to their audience while simultaneously delivering their own key concepts and proprietary content in an entertaining and impactful way. Most companies understand that this specialization is very much worth the time (around an hour) and the investment.

In order to capture the perfect essence, a Keynote Speaker spends the necessary time researching a client’s industry, their issues, and their audience to craft a customized presentation into a unique and distinctive moment specifically for the client’s event.

As a top Keynote Speaker, Tom Leu strategically uses compelling storytelling, humor, powerful visuals, audio and video clips, and audience participation elements to weave an impactful message into your event in a fun and memorable way. Tom can also pair his Keynote with Best Corporate Events programming, laying a foundation and setting a tone that best prepares participants for maximum engagement in the forthcoming team events that day.
