Month: November 2013

When groups find out they’ll be making gumbo, crafting a team ‘restaurant’ name, and performing a commercial song for their chosen moniker, there’s always a buzz of excitement in the room. When delicious smells start to fill the room and teams start tasting their creations, the excitement builds. When the singing and dancing of the performances begins, the excitement includes wholehearted cheering. And when the ultimate winner of the Gumbo Cook-Off is crowned, well, you’ve never seen such excitement at a corporate event. Now that’s tasty fun!

Got a team that’s ready for a physical challenge? Check out this video of groups swimming, leaping, running, and moving in unison, all in pursuits of a real medal! We offer a simply dazzling array of activities in our Medal Games program, all specifically geared towards building your team’s cohesiveness and success. As team members cheer on their peers and strategize their best possible approach to each challenge, they forge bonds that last. Seeing who’s adept in a potato sack race is just an added bonus!

“It looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team.” –Diana Nyad

When endurance swimming Diana Nyad covered the 110-mile distance from Cuba to Key West, Florida this year, she did so on her own, in a way. The rules stated that she could never touch the boat or any outside person or object during the entirety of the 53 hours she spent in the water. That said, however, Nyad acknowledged that without her team, her accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible at all.

The crew accompanying Nyad included medical personnel, jellyfish experts, boat drivers, and independent observers to corroborate her story of achievement. There are reports that not only did she stop halfway through to sing happy birthday to one member of her team, but also that as she approached the end of her swim she told everyone in attendance on the boats, from dear friends to crew she’d just met the day before, that they were “a special group”.

We here at Best Corporate Events are always heartened by tales of teams working together to achieve the extraordinary, like this one. Forging successful teams is our passion!

Never underestimate the power of creativity! Not only do teams get to cook delectable meals during this corporate event, but they also design a poster and commercial advertising for their newly-formed ‘restaurant’ to the rest of the group. In this video, which includes several large group Great Dining® events, you can see lots of clever names, from Heart of Sole (for a team that made a fish dish) to the Candy Café (dessert crafters) to Irene’s and Gio’s (likely the head chef of those teams). It’s one of the many ways we’ve incorporated different forms of creativity into our programs, to let the broadest possible spectrum of participants shine!

“We all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children’s future.” –John F. Kennedy

The web page for every program we offer here at Best Corporate Events includes a section called “Eco Elements” which details the ways in which it’s green. For example, all materials used might be reused, recycled, or donated. Or we may be able to theme the entire program around an eco theme. The biggest way in which we’ve upgraded our offerings, though, is by including iPads! Since the trivia questions, assembly instructions, and other information are now all on the iPads instead of printed; popular programs like Bike Build Donation and SmartHunts are entirely paperless.

      What is a Keynote Speaker?

Keynote Speaker is an often-misunderstood term associated with simply a motivational speaker, breakout speaker, industry expert, etc. Most professional speakers are not actual trained Keynote Speakers, who are specialists, therefore in much lower supply, and in higher demand.

Keynote Speakers are experienced, professional communicators who engage an audience, capturing the essence of a client’s meeting. They are able to highlight it to their audience while simultaneously delivering their own key concepts and proprietary content in an entertaining and impactful way. Most companies understand that this specialization is very much worth the time (around an hour) and the investment.

In order to capture the perfect essence, a Keynote Speaker spends the necessary time researching a client’s industry, their issues, and their audience to craft a customized presentation into a unique and distinctive moment specifically for the client’s event.

As a top Keynote Speaker, Tom Leu strategically uses compelling storytelling, humor, powerful visuals, audio and video clips, and audience participation elements to weave an impactful message into your event in a fun and memorable way. Tom can also pair his Keynote with Best Corporate Events programming, laying a foundation and setting a tone that best prepares participants for maximum engagement in the forthcoming team events that day.
